Witt’s Custom Framing

OUR STORY

Four Generations of Craftsmanship

Est. 1895 · Four generations

Witt's Custom Framing started in 1895 when William E. Witt — a well-known cabinet maker in Elkader — picked up a hammer and built his first frame. That same hammer is still in the shop today, four generations later. We use only the finest woods; composition wood is illegal in our gallery. Every frame we build is made the way it has always been made: by hand, with care, for keeps.

THE GALLERY

The Gallery

We are an authorized dealer for many major print companies in the United States — poster art, limited editions, and original art, all under one roof. We are proud to carry original work by Mario Fernandez; his eagle sculptures are exquisite. Our gallery also features original pieces by local Iowa artists. If a work speaks to you, call us at 563-245-2717 and we will tell you everything about it.

THE WITT CABINET MAKING

Handmade Wood

The cabinet-making tradition runs deep here. Browse our Handmade Wood Items — hand-crafted furniture and one-of-a-kind wood pieces by M.L. Witt, including 16 grandfather clocks. In the Witt home, the very first grandfather clock W.E. Witt built in the early 1900s still stands — the clock continues to tick into the future. Ask about any piece when you call or come in.
